Funding for Energy-Related Conferences Available

AMES, IA (03/19/2009)(readMedia)-- Eleven efficiency and renewable energy-related workshops in Iowa have received over $40,000 in grant support from the Iowa Energy Center since July 2008. Grant applications continue to be accepted and reviewed by the Energy Center.

Nearly $860,000 in Small Conference and Demonstration grants has been provided by the Energy Center since 1992, assisting 56 organizations with 160 energy-related education opportunities.

"Our on-going grant program is aimed at organizations that want to develop education projects related to our mission areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy," said Kevin Nordmeyer, Energy Center director. "It's been a great complement to our annual research and demonstration grant program – it's a streamlined funding option for dynamic local programming."

Organizations eligible to receive Energy Center grants are Iowa's educational institutions, and Iowa-registered private nonprofit organizations and foundations. The Energy Center does not award grants to other entities, including state, county or local government agencies.

Guidelines for the Energy Center's Small Conference and Demonstration Grants can be found online, www.energy.iastate.edu.fuding/gp-conference.htm.
