Funeral Directors Publish "Religious Funeral Etiquette - A Guide for Consumers"
ALBANY, NY (07/23/2007)(readMedia)-- The New York State Tribute Foundation, the educational and philanthropic affiliate of the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA), has just published “Religious Funeral Etiquette - A Guide for Consumers”. This guide contains bereavement information about 23 of the world's most practiced religions, faiths and denominations and their beliefs about death; visitation and funeral practices, and mourning rituals. It also provides a list of resources to assist with further research if needed.
According to NYSFDA’s Executive Director Bonnie McCullough, the booklet was created to assist mourners when they attend a funeral where the deceased’s funeral service and customs may not be familiar to them. Ms. McCullough added that, “It is important for those who attend a funeral to know what to expect. Not only will they feel more comfortable, but will be able to meaningfully participate if they so choose, while knowing that they are upholding and respecting the deceased and his or her religious traditions and practices.”
To order a copy of the brochure, simply send a check or money order in the amount of $3.00 to: New York State Tribute Foundation, 426 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. The booklet was written, designed and published exclusively by the Tribute Foundation, a not-for-profit entity established to provide beneficial information to the public.
Founded in 1889, NYSFDA’s mission is to promote the highest standards of funeral service to the public and to enhance the environment in which its members operate. More than 800 member firms and 3000 licensed funeral directors who operate across the state belong to the New York State Funeral Directors Association. In addition to maintaining a Website at www.nysfda.org, NYSFDA also publishes a quarterly newspaper column “Transitions” and brochures which educate and inform consumers about end-of-life issues.
