Background: Mark your calendars for informational and fun summer programs coming up at Genesee Community College's Lima Campus Center. There are opportunities for all ages to enjoy the season and advance their learning at GCC Lima. On Tuesday, June 23, 2015, homeschool families are invited to an informational program featuring GCC Admissions Director Tanya Lane Martin who will share facts about the College's ACE (Accelerated College Enrollment) program and how it can benefit families who homeschooled. ACE program specialist Dan Snyder works with many homeschool students and will explain options available to students and answer questions.

Following the homeschool information session, don't miss the premiere of GCC's new TV commercial, featuring a number of current students and recent graduates. The new ads will debut at 5:45 p.m.

From 6 - 7:30 p.m. all ages are welcome to the FREE Party on the Patio, featuring picnic fare refreshments and a special performance by The Voice contestant Amanda Lee Peers. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit out on the Campus Center lawn with their family and friends. The event will occur rain or shine.

Peers, of Honeoye Falls, is an up-and-coming artist who's been compared to the late Amy Winehouse. She made it onto Gwen Stefani's team on Season 7 (Fall 2014) of NBC'S The Voice and this spring she released a new CD, "Summertime State of Mind."

GCC Lima will host a Career Discovery and Development Conference for youth ages 14-17 from July 27-31, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Students will explore career paths and essential skills needed to succeed in the workforce, including interpersonal communication, time management and teamwork. There is no charge for the conference but space is limited. Those who'd like to participate are asked to submit a letter of interest under 75 words with their registration form.
