GCC Medina Hosting 'Where Can We Work' Business Panel

BATAVIA, NY (03/16/2017) (readMedia)-- The Medina Campus Center of Genesee Community College would like to welcomes job-minded and career-oriented students for the opportunity to mingle with representatives from local and regional organizations and businesses on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The "Where Can We Work" event, an extension of the gatherings at the GCC Batavia Campus, will allow students to learn about employment openings, receive career advice as well as tips and tricks from working professionals. Put together by the GCC Career Center, the event provides a networking opportunity with an array of regional business leaders.

"All participants can benefit from this event," Jamie Schultz, Career Services Center liaison at GCC said. "Connections are made, and it is a win-win for students, the public and businesses alike."

Though its different "Where Can We Work" events, the College's Career Services Center continues to provide students and community members with career resources and employment opportunities, enhancing the relationship between job seekers and area businesses and organizations. Attendees of the Medina 'Where Can We Work' event will include Baxter, Darien Lake (hiring professional and seasonal positions), Family & Children's Service of America, Finger Lakes Hired, Iroquois Jobs Corp., Orleans County Career Center, Surfwrench, The ARC of Genesee and Valet of America.

The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts for all attendees in the main lobby. At 10 a.m., participants will meet in rooms 15 and 16 and are encouraged to dress formally with resumes in hand. Representatives from each business will provide a brief overview of their organization from 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. and a Q & A session, lasting approximately 15 – 20 minutes will follow. At 11:15 a.m., professionals will break out into assigned rooms and attendees can approach their businesses of interest.
