GCC Women's Soccer Annouces First Signings for 2017 Recruiting Class

BATAVIA, NY (12/01/2016)(readMedia)-- The Genesee Community College women's soccer program kicked off its recruiting efforts for the 2017 season by announcing a pair of signings of local high school seniors. Committing to the Cougars for next fall were Leah Czechowski (Akron) and Hailey Laude (Pembroke).

Czechowski joins GCC as a forward after a successful career at Akron High School where she garnered all-league honors. Also an all-league member of the track and field team, Leah will study Physical Education at Genesee.

Laude, also a forward, played for Pembroke High School and earned honorable mention all-league honors. She will study either Athletic Training or Nursing at GCC.

Genesee played to a 12-6 record in 2016, including a trip to the Region III quarterfinals. The Cougars were ranked as high as No. 3 in the NJCAA National Poll, which they were a part of four seven consecutive weeks.

Genesee Community College athletics program endeavors to provide a quality and competitive intercollegiate athletics program consistent with the National Junior Collegiate Athletics Association (NJCAA) philosophy and the overall educational mission of Genesee Community College. Participation in collegiate athletics should be an extension of the total educational experience for the student athlete. The inherent philosophy emphasizes the athletic setting as a classroom used to teach character, commitment, work ethic, respect for differences, and the importance of sacrifice, teamwork, and cooperation.
