Background: Genesee Community College welcomes the community to help celebrate its continued growth at the kick off of the Creating Our Future Together campaign. The campaign is raising funds to expand the Batavia campus and enhance student scholarships throughout the GLOW region. The kickoff, themed "Writing the Next Chapter," on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. had originally been scheduled in November, but was postponed because of heavy snowfall.

The Creating Our Future Together Kickoff not only introduces the leading members of the campaign, but also shares the details of the construction plans and timelines. In addition, guests will enjoy the premiere of the new video highlighting GCC's important role in the region and the significance of the Batavia campus expansion that features the following two facilities.

• The Student Success Center brings together in one place the array of state-of-the-art services focused on academic, career and success coaching for students. The $5 million dollar facility will nearly encircle Clock Tower Plaza, transforming the outdoor space into an inviting courtyard.

• The College and Community Event Center will be located adjacent to the outdoor athletic fields on the Batavia Campus. At a cost of just under $14 million, the Center will be able to accommodate a wide variety of events, such as home and garden shows, business conferences, and numerous sporting events including track and field meets. This space expands opportunities for the College to partner with the community.

• In addition, Creating Our Future Together includes new endowed scholarships emphasizing outreach to residents who live in the Albion, Medina, Arcade, Warsaw, Dansville and Lima areas. These new scholarships will help keep talented students in local communities and ensure that all deserving students in the GLOW region are able to obtain a GCC education.
