GCC's Weber Selected as a Softball All-American

BATAVIA, NY (05/31/2016)(readMedia)-- GCC freshman infielder/pitcher Mackenzie Weber (Wayland, NY) earned a place on the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Softball All-American list, being named to the Second Team after a strong spring season. The annoucement was made by the association on Tuesday.

Weber hit nine home runs, which tied for 14th most in the country, and led the Cougars in most offensive categories including hits (54), runs batted in (27), batting average (.495), and runs scored (33). She tallied 23 extra-base hits and recorded at least one hit in all but four games this season.

On the mound, Weber went 6-6 with a 3.15 earned run average in 14 appearances. Her ERA was 22nd lowest in the country and she struck out 45 batters in 71 innings of work.

Weber becomes the second softball player in GCC history to earn All-American honors and second in as many years. The Cougars finished the spring season with a 15-16 overall record and advanced to the regional finals.
