Garrick McGregor Named NACC Football Defensive Player of the Week
The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced Tuesday morning that Rockford University senior defensive back Garrick McGregor has been named the NACC Football Defensive Player of the Week. McGregor is the second RU football player this year (Jaelen Ray - QB) and the first defensive player since 2019 (Jallen Bashford - LB) to be named the conference's player of the week.
Garrick McGregor had a career day on Saturday and nearly helped the Regents pull off an upset win over NACC unbeaten Benedictine University. McGregor ended a trio of Benedictine drives by intercepting two passes (one in the end zone) and recovering a fumble. He also tied his career-high with ten tackles.
The RU football team hits the road for the final time this season on Saturday, October 30 to face St. Norbert College. Kickoff between the Regents and Green Knights is set for 1 PM.
