Genesee Community College Hosts Annual Spring Health Careers Job Fair

Students, Educators, Employers and Community Members Welcomed

BATAVIA, NY (02/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Genesee Community College will host a Job Fair dedicated to careers in the health career industry on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the College's centrally located William Stuart Forum. The event is designed to introduce potential new employees to employers, and also provides health care businesses an opportunity to present their trade and services to the local community. Over 50 local and regional health care companies will be available to answer questions, accept resumes and distribute material relating to their company. Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistants and Respiratory Care businesses will all be represented. The following employer representatives will be available to distribute career information and other printed materials, answer questions, and receive resumes (This list of participants is subject to change):

"With the increasing need for qualified health care professionals, this Health Careers Job Fair gives students and employers a great opportunity to connect," John McGowan, Career Center Coordinator said. "Careers in health care are one of the few areas of continuing growth in these tough economic times."

In addition to career fairs, Genesee Community College's Career and Transfer Center also sponsors several preparatory job search workshops. A Resume and Cover Letter Writing Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 12:45-1:45 pm in T203 at the Batavia Campus. This workshop will discuss creating and writing a resume and cover letter. Topics to be included: What is a resume? Cover letter? What information should be included? What should not be included? As well as the various types of resumes and cover letters.

The workshops and job fairs are FREE and open to the general public. To attend any workshops, all interested students and community members MUST register in advance by calling the Student Activities office at 585-343-0055 x6261.
