Genesee Men's Lacrosse Trio Earn All-American Honors

BATAVIA, NY (05/13/2015)(readMedia)-- Three members of the Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team were recently named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans for the 2015 season. Freshman attack Jacob Bomberry (Six Nations, Ontario), freshman defender Reed Hnidy (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and freshman midfielder Brody Jorgenson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) were all named to the All-American second team.

Bomberry led the team in total points (78) and was second in goals (41). He made 13 starts and appeared in all 16 games for GCC this spring and was named to the All-Region III first team and the All-Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) first team.

Hnidy helped anchor the Genesee defense which allowed the fourth-lowest goals against average in the country at 8.38. He appeared in all 16 games, making 14 starts and was second on the team in ground balls with 62. Hnidy also tallied three points with two goals and one assist and was named to the All-WNYAC first team and the All-Region III first team this season as well.

Jorgenson appeared in all 16 games and scored 19 goals and had seven assists totaling 26 points, the fourth highest total on the team. He was 24-37 on face-offs and collected 25 ground balls. Jorgenson was also named to the All-WNYAC first team and the All-Region III first team.

Genesee finished the 2015 season with 12 wins and returned to the NJCAA National Final Four for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The Cougars also won the WNYAC title with a 2-0 record in conference.
