Genesee to Host a Variety of Summer Sports Camps

BATAVIA, NY (06/18/2015)(readMedia)-- The Genesee Community College athletics department will offer a number of sports camps this summer, including softball, volleyball, swimming, soccer and a soccer camp specifically for goalkeepers.

Boys and girls ages 12-17 are invited to attend a soccer goalkeeper camp that will take place every Sunday from June 21st – July 26th. The camp will be held on the GCC turf field and will cost $50. GCC women's head soccer coach Jeff Reyngoudt will be joined by Maddie Potter (former GCC goalkeeper and NJCAA All-American) and Maddy Evans (Seton Hill starting goalkeeper) and the camp will focus on all aspects of the game with the keepers and include lots of individual attention. Players will be placed according to age (based on numbers). This creates a healthy, challenging, learning environment for each player. The sessions are serious and intense, but will never lose sight of the fact that soccer is a game and player's enjoyment is the number one priority. Softball will hold a camp July 13-17 for girls of all ages and skill levels. The camp will run from 6-8pm each day and registration is limited to the first 30 campers. GCC interim head softball coach Taylor Maurer will ensure that each participant learns the proper, fundamental techniques essential for the sport. Cost of the camp is $90 and includes a T-shirt as well as skill drills, infield play, footwork drills and catching drills. For more information contact Coach Maurer: tnmaurer@genesee.edu.

The women's soccer program will host a camp for girls ages 12-17 on July 27-31. GCC head coach Jeff Reyngoudt will be joined by other area coaches and college players throughout the five-day camp, which will run each day from 6-8pm. The GCC soccer program believes the "game" is the best teacher and that philosophy will be evident at the camp. Cost is $100 and includes a T-shirt. Volleyball will host a camp for girls in grades 8-12 on July 27-31. The camp will run from 9am-4pm each day and GCC head coach Dan Miranda will ensure that each participant learns the proper, fundamental techniques essential for the sport. Participants will learn the skills, drills and thrills of volleyball led by Miranda and select assistant coaches. Cost of the camp is $125 and includes a camp T-shirt. Swimming invites children ages 7-18 to participate in a five day camp from August 8-12. Campers will learn the skills of swimming led by current GCC head coach Erik Fix as well as select assistant coaches. The camp aims to teach the fundamental techniques and challenge swimmers with new skills and instructional activities. The cost of camp is $75 and includes a T-shirt and will run daily from 8-10am.
