Geneva Funeral Director Daniel Simons Appointed to New Volunteer Disaster Commission

ALBANY, NY (11/15/2007)(readMedia)-- Daniel Simons of Geneva has been appointed to serve on the Family Assistance Commission (FAC) organized by the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) to respond to disasters occurring in New York State. As a FAC member, Simons will interview survivors and process paperwork to assist in identifying and facilitating the release of remains to the next of kin.
Simons was chosen to serve on this commission due to his vast experience as a funeral director in New York State. A licensed funeral director for many years, Simons, of the Devaney-Bennett & Simons Funeral Home in Geneva was deployed with DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Response Team) to Gulfport, Mississippi and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He also has experience working in the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer.
FAC will operate under the auspices of the New York State Tribute Foundation, which is the charitable arm of NYSFDA.
