Gov. Paterson's MWBE Task Force & Council of Urban Professionals to Host Historic Networking Session
NEW YORK CITY (07/29/2009)(readMedia)-- Governor David A. Paterson's Executive Order 10 Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Task Force and the Council of Urban Professionals (CUP) will host a first-of-its kind panel presentation and professional networking event on Thursday, July 30. The event will help forge links between state agencies and authorities that have large pools of assets to manage and qualified asset management and broker-dealer firms owned by minority members and women.
The state and local agencies represented at the event collectively manage more than $300 billion in public assets. Encouraging links between minority and women-owned asset management and broker-dealer firms and state and local agencies with pools of assets to manage will advance the agendas of the Governor's Task Force and the Council of Urban Professionals by increasing opportunities for MWBE financial services firms to do business with New York State entities.
The event (agenda attached) will include a series of panel discussions featuring representatives from New York State agencies as well as asset management and brokerage firms. The program will also include a Speed Networking session designed to foster one-on-one introductions and exchanges between firms and agencies.
CUP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization whose members are leading minority and women professionals in finance, law, business, real estate, media and entertainment. CUP's mission is to develop diverse business and civic leaders, empowering them to exert their influence, achieve their individual goals, and create collective impact.
