Governor Paterson Appoints Timothy J. Gilchrist As President of Moynihan Station Development Corporation

ALBANY, NY (05/28/2010)(readMedia)-- Governor David A. Paterson today announced that he will recommend the appointment of Timothy J. Gilchrist as President of the Moynihan Station Development Corporation. Mr. Gilchrist most recently served as Governor Paterson's Senior Advisor for Transportation and Infrastructure and Chair of the New York State Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Cabinet. Governor Paterson is appointing Mr. Gilchrist to lead the redevelopment of the Farley Post Office into Moynihan Station. The first phase of the project, which has an estimated total cost of $267 million, was recently awarded $83 million in federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funding, which allows for Phase 1 of the project to move forward. Construction is expected to begin this year.

"As the final element of financing for the first phase of the Moynihan Station project is now secure, I could not think of a more qualified and talented individual than Tim to lead this effort," said Governor Paterson. "Over the years, Tim has provided invaluable leadership and counsel to the Executive Chamber and New York State. He has overseen the State's most important economic development and transportation projects including Ground Zero development, implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the 2008 MTA rescue, as well as working on Moynihan Station development up to this point. I have enormous confidence in Tim, and I am certain he will continue to serve the citizens of New York with great distinction in this new role."

Mr. Gilchrist previously served as Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Infrastructure during the Spitzer and Paterson administrations. Prior to his roles in the Governor's office, Mr. Gilchrist served in the New York State Department of Transportation for over 25 years in a variety of positions. Mr. Gilchrist earned his B.A. from the State University of New York at Oswego and his M.P.A. from Harvard University. Mr. Gilchrist and his wife Kathleen live in Eagle Mills, New York.

Mr. Gilchrist's last day in the Executive Chamber will be on Friday, June 4, 2010. His replacement will be announced at a later date.

As President of the Moynihan Station Development Corporation, Mr. Gilchrist's salary will be $195,000. This appointment requires the approval of the Moynihan Station Development Corporation, whose members are appointed by the State, New York City and the United States Department of Transportation.
