Governor Paterson Directs Flags to Be Flown at Half-Staff

ALBANY, NY (03/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags on State government buildings be flown at half-staff on Monday, March 15, in honor of White Lake native and Army Private First Class Jason Kropat who was killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday, March 9.

Private First Class Kropat was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell.

"I extend the sympathies and heartfelt condolences of all New Yorkers to the family, friends and fellow service members of Private First Class Jason Kropat," Governor Paterson said. "We are deeply saddened for the loss of this young soldier, but we sincerely thank him and his family for their selfless service to this nation."

Governor Paterson has directed the flags on all State buildings to be lowered to half-staff in honor and tribute to our State's service members who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
