Gowrie Farm Takes Top Honors in Iowa State Fair Southdown Show

DES MOINES, IA (09/02/2011)(readMedia)-- E and M Welter of Gowrie earned top honors in the Southdown Sheep Show judged Wednesday, August 17 at the 2011 Iowa State Fair they showed the Grand Champion Ram and won first place in the Premier Exhibitor contest.

Kyla Wolkow of De Smet, S.D. took Reserve Champion Ram honors.

Willwerth Southdowns of Eagle Grove showed the Champion Ewe and placed third in the Premier Exhibitor contest. Clayton Weltha of Baxter took Reserve Champion Ewe honors.

Second place in the Premier Exhibitor competition went to Lewis Southdowns of Lime Springs.

The Premier Exhibitor Award is given to the exhibitor who accumulates the most points based upon the day's placings.
