Granger Mother/Daughter Pair Takes Top Honors at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (09/04/2015)(readMedia)-- Nearly forty entrants from across the Midwest competed in the Mother-Daughter Look-alike contest judged Sunday, August 23 at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.

First place was awarded to Melissa Seiwert of Granger and her daughter, Katie Seiwert, also of Granger. Second place went to Lisa James and her daughter Haley, both of Lynville. A three-way tie for third place went to Silicia (no last name given), and Mericia (no last name given), of Des Moines, Sheryl Geest and her daughter Kayla Geest, of Johnston, and April Fleischman and her daughter Brooklyn Fleishman, of West Des Moines.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
