MANKATO, MN (06/15/2009)(readMedia)-- The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) is proud to announce that Greg Tusa of Alpha, Minn. has been awarded a soybean checkoff scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
"The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council has been awarding scholarships for nearly 20 years to deserving high school seniors," said Jim Willers, chair of the MSR&PC. "We feel it's important to encourage and reward young people who are actively involved in agriculture - specifically those whose ambitions directly relate to the soybean industry."
In his application, Tusa stated that growing up on a small family has led him to pursue a degree in Agribusiness with hopes of one day becoming an Ag Lender, Ag Salesman or Coop Manager. He wrote, "No matter which job I choose I will be working closely with soybean producers helping them market their grain, choose new genetics or maximze their profits."
The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council is made up of an elected board of 15 soybean producers from across the state. The mission of the council is to invest soybean checkoff dollars in well-defined research, marketing, education and commercialization programs designed to increase demand and thereby improve the profitability of Minnesota's soybean farmers.
