LATHAM, NY (04/03/2015)(readMedia)-- Latham resident Gregory Martin, a Latham resident and a veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, has been promoted to Master Sergeant in the New York Army National Guard.

Martin is a full-time National Guard Soldier currently serving as an operations sergeant for the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade which is based in Latham. He has also served as a medical non-commissioned officer.

Martin has served in the Army National Guard for 22 years. He deployed to Iraq in 2004 and 2005 with the 42nd Infantry Division, and to Afghanistan in 2008 and 2009 with the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He deployed to Kuwait with the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade in 2013 and 2014.
