MORRISTOWN, NJ (02/23/2011)(readMedia)-- Gregory M. Vacca of Wayne, N.J. has successfully defended his dissertation at the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J, to earn his Ed.D, or doctorate in educational leadership. Vacca's dissertation is entitled, "The Integration of Global Education into the Summit High School Curriculum."
With more than 14 years of educational experience, Vacca teaches English at Summit High School. He is married to Jamie Bray and has two daughters, Amelia and Ella. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. in secondary education/ English from Seton Hall University, and he also has a master's in educational leadership from CSE.
"I've had a very fulfilling experience in the Ed.D. program," Vacca says. "The work has been challenging and it has allowed me to gain a much more in-depth understanding of how public education works in this country. In addition to expanding my knowledge of educational issues, the cohort model of the program has allowed me to create professional and personal friendships that I would otherwise have not been able to create."
The doctoral program at CSE, which is dedicated to preparing leaders who are committed to social justice and ethical practice, began in August 2007. "Integrated into all course work and learning activities are the central values and beliefs necessary for school leaders to function as morally purposeful stewards for their school communities," states Dr. John Crews, Ed.D., CSE educational leadership program chair. "This philosophy represents a major shift from the traditional paradigm of school leaders as managers of resources, which is so prevalent in today's practices."
