Gretchen Schrubbe Voted NACC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week
Rockford University's Gretchen Schrubbe has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference South Division Softball Position Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning. This marks the first weekly award this season for the softball program and its first since the 2019 season (Rylee Klema). It is also the first time Rockford has had a NACC Position Player of the Week since 2013 (Nicole Lawler).
Gretchen Schrubbe had four multi-hit games and helped lead the Regents to a perfect 6-0 record last week. Her top two performances came against Lakeland and Eureka. Schrubbe went 4-for-5 with two doubles, four runs scored and an RBI in an 11-10 win over the Muskies. She also went 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in during a 16-2 victory against Eureka. For the week, Schrubbe had a .706 batting average, a .722 on-base percentage and a 1.235 slugging percentage. She tallied 12 hits, including five doubles and two triples, scored eight runs, drove in 11 runs and stole three bases.
The Regents will put their nine-game winning streak on the line Wednesday afternoon when they hit the road to face the MSOE Raiders. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 PM in Milwaukee.
