TROY, NY (02/07/2013)(readMedia)--  Tight End Josh Gross (Old Mill/Glen Burnie, MD) signed his letter of intent on National Signing Day to play football at The University of Rhode Island next year. In his two seasons at Hudson Valley, Gross led the Vikings in receiving and earned All-Region honors. In the 2012 season, Gross recorded 21 catches for 337 yards and three touchdowns. He will join former Viking players Mike Henderson (2011) and Mackenzie Elliott (2012) in a Rhody uniform next season.

Gross is excited about his opportunity stating, "I want to thank the coaching staff and my teammates for all the help and support they have provided me. I'm very proud to be graduating from Hudson Valley Community College with a degree, and can continue on with my academic and athletic career. I have decided to attend The University of Rhode Island on a full athletic scholarship. I really enjoyed my visit to the school and felt comfortable with the coaching staff and my opportunity to come in and play early."

A Dean's List student, Gross brings talent to the tight end position. Head Coach Joe Trainer is excited about the addition saying, "Josh Gross is a truly, truly special player. He has tremendous hands and is physical enough to play on the line of scrimmage. He's also athletic enough to spread him out in your three- and four-receiver sets. He's a guy we are really excited about."
