GLOVERSVILLE, NY (08/26/2009)(readMedia)-- Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in conjunction with Crossroads Incubation Corporation, is holding a ground-breaking ceremony Thursday at 10:30 am to celebrate the new expansion to the Primary/Specialty Care Center located in Perth. Construction is scheduled to begin later this week. The Perth Primary Care Center, which opened approximately 26 months ago, now houses 11 medical providers. The center opened with 5 providers. Last year, the facility had over 11,000 patient visits. With the addition of three doctors in the past three months, the facility is now expanding to meet the community's growing demand.

Laurence E. Kelly, Littauer's President and CEO explains, "This is not a ground-breaking in the conventional sense, it is in essence a celebration of the success we have realized since opening the Perth center a mere 26 months ago." He added, "We built it and they came! And they came in record numbers. We needed to add on to this facility not only to accommodate more patients but more doctors as well. "

Crossroads Incubation Corporation (CIC)built, and currently owns, the Perth Primary Care Center facility. "CIC was excited to partner with Nathan Littauer Hospital in 2005 to develop the Perth Primary Care facility. They have been wonderful tenants and we look forward to continuing that partnership with this expansion," said Joyce Royal, President of CIC's Board of Directors. Michael Reese, Chief Operating Officer for Fulton County Economic Development Corporation, added, "We are pleased that the Hospital has exceeded their goals with the Perth Primary Care Center. This location has filled a medical need in this portion of Fulton and Montgomery Counties. We are certain that Nathan Littauer Hospital will benefit from this expansion and we anticipate their future success."

Paula Hohensheldt RN site manager at the facility notes, "We are busier than we ever anticipated here. And we are thrilled to be able to expand to meet the demand." Mr. Kelly agrees stating, "We want our neighbors to have access to excellent health care close to home. Our Perth Primary Care Center is that mission realized."
