"Guard Experience" Open House Planned for Utica Armory on March 21

UTICA , NY (03/14/2012)(readMedia)-- New York Army National Guard weapons and equipment will be on display at the Utica Armory on Wednesday March 21 for the public and those interested in joining the Guard.
The Guard Experience event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Armory, located at 1700 Parkway East in Utica.
Visitors will be able to climb aboard up-armored humvees like those used in Afghanistan and Iraq by New York Army National Guard Soldiers, as well as military trucks. Weapons on display will include the M-4 carbine, the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon and the M-2 50 caliber machine gun. Visitors will also be able to examine night vision goggles used by Guard troops and communications equipment.
New York Army National Guard Soldiers will also be on hand to discuss their experiences.
A climbing wall will also be on hand and Staff Sgt. John Scarlett will conduct a talk about the benefits of Army National Guard membership.
