Gun control groups dishonor John F. Kennedy's name
ALBANY, NY (11/20/2013)(readMedia)-- As we approach the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's death, gun control groups are trying to rewrite history to better suit their causes.
It is widely known that Kennedy was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, a fact which has been reported by the Washington Post and other media outlets. That has not stopped fringe interest groups from implying Kennedy supported their agenda.
"For groups such as New Yorkers Against Gun Violence to use JFK's image to promote their agenda is shamelessly dishonest," said NYSRPA President Tom King. "Not only was he a Life Member of NRA, in 1961 Kennedy even wrote a letter to then NRA President Franklin Orth commending the organization. This disgraceful attempt at revisionist history cannot go unchallenged."
