HMK Insurance Partners with NCC to Provide Safety Training

Workplaces that employ safety training reduce injury and illness costs by 20 to 40 percent

BETHLEHEM, PA (06/19/2018) HMK Insurance, located in Bethlehem, PA, has chosen Northampton Community College's Center for Business & Industry to partner with to provide safety training, OSHA compliance training, and workplace hazard assessment to its clients.

In addition to ensuring safe working conditions for employees, these services can help employers lower their insurance rates, avoid costly fines and improve productivity by reducing time lost to injuries.

According to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, businesses spend more than $170 billion each year on workplace injuries and illnesses. Safety and health management programs can reduce those costs by 20-30%.

Northampton's Center for Business & Industry is a member of the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers network. OTI Education Centers are non-profit organizations that offer training on OSHA standards and occupational safety and health issues to workers and employers. NCC was chosen by OSHA as a consortium partner with the Mid Atlantic OSHA Training Institute Education Center (MAOTIEC). Joining forces with the Chesapeake Region Safety Council (CRSC), NCC is designated as the MAOTIEC for OSHA Region III (Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.). This designation allows NCC to act as an education agent for OSHA through the teaching of select OSHA Education Center courses.
