Hanna Al-Jibouri Accepted into Teach for America
Tulsa native to serve her hometown
CONWAY, AR (05/24/2012)(readMedia)-- Hanna Al-Jibouri of Tulsa, Okla., has been accepted into Teach for America. Al-Jibouri, who received a degree in English studies from Hendrix College, will serve in Tulsa.
"Being accepted into Teach For America makes me feel honored to be a part of their wonderful organization," said Al-Jibouri. "I'm looking forward to sharing my love of learning with younger generations and to help inspire others."
"When I look back on the great education I've received, I am most thankful for the teachers that believed in me and really helped guide me in the right path," she added. "I would love to be that same person for somebody else."
Al-Jibouri was one of eight Hendrix seniors selected.
Since 1990, nearly 33,000 leaders have joined Teach For America. They have reached more than 3 million students across 43 urban and rural communities, founded dozens of high-performing schools, boldly led school districts and charter management organizations, and helped pass groundbreaking education legislation. In the 2011-12 school year, more than 9,000 corps members will teach 600,000 students while nearly 24,000 alumni will continue to deepen their impact as educational leaders and advocates.
