Harris Named Honoray Chair in Lung Health Stairclimb
Fight for Air Columbus is January 28
NORWALK, OH (11/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Ohio State University football great, Raymont Harris ('91-93') has been named honorary chairperson for the American Lung Association's 2012 Fight for Air Climb Columbus.
"I encourage anyone interested in fitness or who wants to get fit, to get involved with this great event. We'll be doing something healthy, having a blast and doing great work in the fight for air all at the same time," said Harris.
The event is a vertical 40-story climb to the top of the Rhodes Tower in on Saturday, January 28 starting at 8:30 am. The Rhodes Tower is in downtown Columbus at 30 East Broad Street.
Open to everyone 16 years and older, the climb benefits the programs of the American Lung Association in Ohio. The registration fee is $25 ($35.00 after 12/31/11), and there is a pledge minimum of $100 per climber to participate.

The climb, in Central Ohio's tallest building, includes 880 steps spread over 40 floors. Event Manager for the American Lung Association, Kevin Readey, is looking for brave climbers from all walks of life to "Step Up" to the challenge and to raise money and awareness for promoting good lung health.
Proceeds from the climb go directly to local research, education, and advocacy efforts that help to save lives by preventing lung disease and promoting healthy lungs.
The climb is professionally timed & ranked with awards presented in a variety of categories, giving participants an opportunity to compete against the clock and conquer their quest to climb 40 stories!
The American Lung Association has been putting on stair climb events across the nation for decades as a fun twist on the athletic fundraiser. Due to the great success of this unique event, along with the great enthusiasm of the community and participants, the 2012 Fight For Air Climb Columbus is set to be bigger and better than ever!
Many of the expected 200 climbers will be participating as part of a corporate team and many will be there to climb in honor or in memory of a loved one with lung disease. Many local firefighters and fire rescue departments will climb in full-gear to support the cause.
