Hartwick College Poets Honored by Academy of American Poets
Meer Singh '28 of Oneonta, N.Y., was named winner of the Anna Sonder Prize of the Academy of American Poets during Honors Convocation on April 30. Brynn Illies '25 of Watertown, Minn., received Honorable Mention.
The prize was established in 1978 by the late Otto Sonder, professor emeritus of sociology, to recognize the best poem written by a Hartwick College student. It is awarded annually under the auspices of the Academy of American Poets in New York City, and honors the memory of Sonder's mother, Anna, who died that same year.
