Haverhill Cooks Claims State Fair Snack Mix Maven Honors

DES MOINES, IA (08/16/2018) (readMedia)-- Susan Schultz of Haverhill won First Place Overall and a total of $150 in cash awards in the Allspice Snack Mix Contest judged Monday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Bridget Lottman of Norwalk claimed first place in the Sweet Snack Mix class. Sara Carlson of Des Moines took second place and Susan Schultz of Haverhill earned third place.

Susan Schultz of Haverhill won first place in the Savory Snack Mix class. Kevin Greiman of Haverhill earned second place and Pamela Reynolds of Norwalk took third place.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and "addictiveness".

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 171 divisions, 727 classes and over 9,574 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
