ROMEOVILLE, IL (11/19/2012)(readMedia)--  The University Aviation Association awarded Lewis University student Heather Hostert a $2,000 Joseph Frasca Excellence in Aviation Scholarship for 2012. Hostert is a student in the university's Bachelor's to Master's Fast Track program for aviation majors. She will be graduating December with a degree in Air Traffic Control and will continue to earn a master's degree at Lewis University. The Fast Track program allows qualified undergraduate students to complete the graduate Master of Science in Aviation and Transportation (MSAT) in less time than both traditional undergraduate and graduate programs.

"The financial assistance provided by the Joseph Frasca Excellence in Aviation scholarship will help me achieve both my current aspirations and long term goals in the aviation industry. I cannot thank the Frasca family enough for this scholarship opportunity, as my goals would not be possible without the financial assistance of aviation scholarships," said Hostert.

Her career goals after she graduates from Lewis are to continue to work as a dispatcher, while eventually becoming an air traffic controller. She expresses the excitement to "one day, pay it forward to aspiring aviators."

The Joseph Frasca Excellence in Aviation Scholarship was established through the University Aviation Association by the Frasca family in name of their son, Joseph Frasca. Frasca excelled as an undergraduate aviation student who earned a reputation as a dedicated and competent scholar. To be considered for the Joseph Frasca Aviation Scholarship, some of the requirements include: evidence of excellence in activities, studies, and events that are related to aviation, a minimum of a 3.0 overall grade point average, and membership in at least one Aviation organization.
