LOUISVILLE KY (08/15/2014)(readMedia)-- Leslie Newman of Henderson KY has been elected to serve as chairman of the charter board of the American Lung Association of the Midland States. Based in Columbus OH, ALAMS provides programs and services to the residents of Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Michigan.

Newman, an attorney with the law firm of King, Deep and Branaman, has been active with the American Lung Association since 1990, serving in a variety of capacities on the local, regional, and national boards. In addition to her position with the Midland States, she is currently serving as part of the national American Lung Association's chair's assembly.

Her public service includes serving as a trustee, University of the South, Sewanee TN; a board member, Friends of John James Audubon State Park, Inc. Henderson KY; a board member, Henderson Music Preservation Society, Inc., Henderson KY; a board member, Henderson Parks and Recreation Board, City of Henderson KY; a member, Bluegrass in the Park and Folklife Festival; a board member, Henderson County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy (ASAP); a member, Community Emergency Response Team and a member or the American Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Henderson County Bar Association and Kentucky Justice Association.
