Hillary Powell of Pottstown Receives James C. Parks Endowed Scholarship in Botanical Research

MILLERSVILLE, PA (05/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Hillary P. Powell, of Pottstown, Pa., has been selected to receive the James C. Parks Endowed Scholarship in Botanical Research. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

Powell will attend Millersville this fall, majoring in biology. She completed a college preparatory program including several courses at the honors and Advanced Placement level, while at Pottsgrove High School. Powell was also involved in the orchestra, German Club, tennis team and serving as president of the 4-H club.

The James C. Parks Endowed Scholarship in Botanical Research is awarded to an incoming freshman based on grade point average and SAT scores, who plans to pursue a degree in biology with an interest in botanical research. It is a renewable award in the amount of $1,915 per year, for an additional three years, as long as the student continues to make academic progress.
