Michael Lawley

NASHVILLE TN (08/13/2014)(readMedia)-- Michael Lawley of Hixon TN has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of the Midland States. Based in Columbus OH, ALAMS provides programs and services to the residents of Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio.

Lawley actively serves on the Chattanooga State Foundation Board and has previously served on the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society Board and on the board of the Children's Advocacy Center of Hamilton County.

A graduate of Troy State with a Bachelor of Science in Technology Managerment, Lawley currently finishing an Executive MBA in international Finance from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga. He has professional certifications in ITIL and HIPAA.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he most recently worked as vice president of Technology Shared Services for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. He was previously vice president of Information Technology and Security for Emdeon Business Services, formerly known as WebMD.

The mission of the American Lung Association is to save lives through the prevention of lung disease and lung health. Originally founded in the early 1900's to fight tuberculosis, the association now is actively involved with a variety of lung health issues working through research, advocacy and education initiatives.
