Holocaust Survivor Henry Silberstern Launches New Book, Lost Childhood, at Nazareth College, April 6

ROCHESTER, NY (04/01/2014)(readMedia)-- Henry Silberstern, a Holocaust survivor who speaks to students around the Rochester region to share his story, is launching his new book Lost Childhood on Sunday, April 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Nazareth College Arts Center Room A14. There will be a small discussion, followed by a book signing. For more information, contact Jamie Fazio at (585) 389-2308.

Silberstern stated in 2013 "I was a young boy when the Nazis occupied my native land Czechoslovakia. I was arrested and then incarcerated during my early teens, yet I managed to survive as an inmate in several of the most brutal concentration camps. This memoir is based on my memories of what happened to me more than seventy-five years ago."

Nazareth alumna Sarah Spoto will also be part of the book discussion. She met Silberstern in 1999 when she was a student at Nazareth and he visited her class to speak about his experiences as a survivor. Family and friends encouraged Silberstern to speak about his experience and share his story. Spoto interviewed Silberstern and edited his memoir to share his unique story. Spoto is now a teacher in South Carolina where she specializes in early adolescent social studies. She plans to help other educators incorporate Lost Childhood into their curricula.
