Holy Halloween! Trick or Treaters to be provided a "Safe Night Out"and receive pallets of candy
Pastor Charlie Muller and Albany District Attorney David Soares team up to Provide a "Safe Night Out" for kids
ALBANY, NY (10/25/2011)(readMedia)-- In October 2010, Albany NY Pastor Charlie Muller of Victory Christian Church and Albany County District Attorney David Soares launched the very first test program in the City of Albany called a "Safe Night Out". The program, like no other in the country, encompassed a couple of City blocks and allowed trick or treaters to receive candy from law enforcement officers and other volunteers in a safe environment. This program provided the safest Halloween the City has seen in over 10 years. "Halloween has become a challenge for many families and children to feel safe in at-risk neighborhoods in the City, with this program, we want children to know that they can have a "Safe Night Out", Pastor Charlie. "This program will help to ensure that the children in these tough areas will have a safe holiday"
This year, the program which will partner not only with the DA's office but Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings and the Albany Parks and Recreation Director John D'Antonnio, as well as the Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple, Albany PD and Fire as well as the local FBI Office. Togehter, law enforcement and local volunteers will be posted at over 100 blocks through-out targeted areas of the City of Albany. Children will be able to receive candy handouts on each block, instead of knocking on door that could be answered by a pedophile or someone looking to cause harm to a child.
This event will take place on Halloween night, October 31, 2011 fron 5 to 8 pm. At 9:00 pm, local news media will announce the winners of 3 family fun packs which include a Flat Screen TV, Playstation 3, a Manicure for Mom and Dinner for the entire family. With the 9:00 pm announcement, this will help to ensure that the children are safe at home.
The "Safe Night Out Program is a part of the Enough Program which is part of the ongoing partnership between Pastor Charlie and Albany District Attorney David Soares. Through the Enough Program, over 400 hand guns have been removed from the streets of Albany.
