Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the December kitchen class: Holiday Candy Making 101, on Monday, December 9, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m. with Chef Andrea Love. This class will cover the essentials of candy making, just in time for the holiday season. Tickets for the December class go on sale on November 14, 2024.

About Chef Grant Gillon:
Grant is a private chef, born and raised in Altoona, IA. He always enjoyed cooking while growing up, and when he began to get more serious with cooking, he would study different chefs on YouTube and attempt to recreate the dishes in his own kitchen. With encouragement from his family, Gillon decided to apply for Gordon Ramsay's MasterChef and was named the winner in 2023. On the popular show, Grant competed against 20 individuals across the US cooking through different individual and team challenges while being judged by Gordon Ramsay himself. Gillon now hosts pop-up tasting menus, does in-home private events, and is featured at several dinner series events across Iowa.

During the Fair, The Kitchen, located in Maytag Family Theaters, is a popular demonstration kitchen for anything from cuts of meat to barbecue, cake decorating, charcuterie, and cooking with honey.
