Hotel Association of NYC Reassures Guests of Safety Measures in Light of Omicron Surge

NEW YORK, NY (12/17/2021) (readMedia)-- HANYC (the Hotel Association of NYC) today reassured guests of safety measures being taken by hotels in light of recent developments on the rapid spread of the omicron variant in New York City. The state of New York yesterday reported new positive tests of COVID-19 were up more than 40 percent in one day.

"Since the onset of the pandemic, the health and safety of guests and staff remains the top priority for hotels. While the recent uptick in cases in New York is alarming, patrons should rest assured that hotels continue to use all safety measures at their disposal to combat the spread of COVID-19," said Vijay Dandapani, President and CEO of the Hotel Association of New York City.

NYC hotels have implemented the following safety precautions:

  • Protective barriers at check-in counters;
  • Required proof of vaccination for patrons at indoor restaurants and bars;
  • Enhanced contactless procedures including direct-to-room check-in;
  • Sanitization stations at periodic intervals throughout the hotel;
  • Full and active compliance with a range of regulatory agencies including NYC, NYS, CDC, WHO
