Ian McDaniels of Thetford Awarded Degree from UVM

Magna Cum Laude Honors Earned

BURLINGTON, VT (06/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Ian M. McDaniels of Thetford, received a Bachelor of Arts degree Magna Cum Laude during May commencement ceremonies at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. McDaniels was a biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Some 2,475 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees during the University of Vermont's 207th Commencement ceremonies on May 22. There were some 392 master's degrees and 97 doctoral degrees awarded by the UVM Graduate College, and approximately 111 women and men took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees at ceremonies of the UVM College of Medicine.

Chartered in 1791, UVM was the first college or university in the United States that did not give preference to a religious sect in its charter and the first to allow women to join Phi Beta Kappa. A small, comprehensive university, it blends the academic heritage of a private university with service missions in the land grant tradition.
