SPRINGFIELD, IL (03/07/2013)(readMedia)-- Brig. Gen. Daniel Krumrei of Springfield, the Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard, presented the Army National Guard Defensive Team of the Year Minuteman Award at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Coach of the Year Luncheon March 7 in St. Louis.

This year's award was presented to the Wichita State University Shockers, represented by forward Cleanthony Early of Middletown, N.Y. This is the fifth year the Illinois National Guard has presented the award on behalf of the National Guard Bureau.

Of the 10 teams in the conference, three are from Illinois; the Bradley University Braves, the Southern Illinois University Salukis and the Illinois State University Red Birds. The Army National Guard has partnered with the Missouri Valley Conference for the Arch Madness event in St. Louis.
