Illinois College recognizes students in Public Speaking Showcase
JACKSONVILLE, IL (05/01/2013)(readMedia)-- The Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies at Illinois College has announced that first-year student Jennifer Crentsil from Accra, Ghana, emerged as the winner of the department's first Public Speaking Showcase. She presented a passionate speech on the need to ban photo manipulated models in the media.
A total of five first-year students participated in the event with second place going to Jovanny Nava from Mulberry, Fla., third place was awarded to Kieryn Beyerl from Edwardsville, fourth place was awarded to Alexis Lintker from Venedy, and fifth place was awarded to Kavita Patel from Princeton.
On Tuesday, March 26, each student made a presentation before a large audience that included students, faculty and staff who were captivated by the expertise and professionalism in which the presenters executed their speech.
The following faculty and staff members of Illinois College graciously agreed to participate in the Public Speaking Showcase acting as the judges: Admissions Counselor Lauren Dwyer, Illinois College Chaplain Katrina Jenkins, Director of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Justin Mallet and Director of Development – Major Gifts Julie Wilkinson.
