Illinois National Guard Reactivates Quincy Unit with Vietnam Lineage

SPRINGFIELD, IL (11/01/2016)(readMedia)-- The Illinois National Guard's newest unit, the 126th Quartermaster Company, will host an activation ceremony in Quincy, Illinois, Saturday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m.

WHO:

• Illinois National Guard

• 126th Quartermaster Company

• Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs

• Vietnam Veterans of the 126th Supply and Service Company

WHAT:

 • The 126th Quartermaster Company is comprised of Soldiers previously assigned to the 1844th Transportation Company, which was based in Quincy and Beardstown. The unit’s lineage and honors includes the 126th Supply and Service Company, the only Illinois Army National Guard unit deployed to Vietnam. Vietnam-era Veterans of the 126th Supply and Service Company will be honored at the event.
