Illinois National Guard to Break Ground on Milan Armory Expansion
SPRINGFIELD, IL (11/29/2010)(readMedia)-- The Illinois National Guard invites the media to attend the ground breaking ceremony of a new expansion to the National Guard Armory in Milan.

| WHAT: | A ground breaking ceremony for the new armory in Milan.The $4.8 million, federally funded addition to the Milan Armory will include almost 15,000 square feet of space for work areas, supply rooms, locker rooms, classrooms and storage space. The project will also include 6,000 square yards of paved parking area for military vehicles, a stand-alone storage building and a vehicle wash rack. The Milan Armory houses Battery A, 2nd Battalion of the 123rd Field Artillery Regiment (2/123), Forward Support Company 2/123 and Headquarters, Headquarters Battery 2/123. The units are currently deployed to Sinai, Egypt as part of the Multinational Force Observers overseeing the 1979 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. |
