STAUNTON, VA (07/01/2010)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Instructional Youth Baseball open registration comes to a close on July 9, 2010. The Instructional League previously known as "Fall Ball" will take place one month earlier this year. Due to cold weather considerations, school and homework priorities, the department will move the league up one month and begin in early August and wrap up in September. The league will maneuver to a less competitive and more instructional league with fairly selected teams in a face-up draft. No priorities will be given for "ride arrangements" or requests to be with a specific coach. Instructional clinics will be added and end of the season playoffs eliminated.

Instructional Youth Baseball is sponsored by Staunton Parks and Recreation Department and is for youth ages 6-12 (ages based on May 1, 2010). Six year olds must have played one year of T-ball in order to be eligible. There will be an approximate 12 game schedule with no playoffs.

Signups begin June 1, no late registrations will be permitted. The registration deadline if July 9th.
