Iowa State Fair Chili Cook-Off Crown Claimed

DES MOINES, IA (09/12/2016)(readMedia)-- The top "Red Texas Style" chili cooks squared off in heated competition in the Chili Cook Off contest, judged Saturday August 20 at the 2016 Iowa State Fair.

Robin Seuferer of Lucas claimed first place, $250 cash prize, and eligibility in the World's Chili Cook-off Championship.

Kyle Barton of West Des Moines earned second place and $150. Valerie Singer of Altoona claimed third place and $75.

Entrants were required to be a member of the International Chili Society and were asked to prepare at least two quarts of "Red Texas Style" Chili on site during the Fair. "Red Texas Style" chili uses no beans or pasta. The chili can contain any combination of meats, cooked with chili peppers and spices.
