Iowa State Fair Chili King Crowned

DES MOINES, IA (08/22/2014)(readMedia)-- Bob Alexander of Tulsa, Okla., took first place in the Iowa State Chili Cook-off Championship judged Saturday at the 2014 Iowa State Fair.

T.J. Patterson of West Des Moines placed second, and Seth Hoppens of Manilla earned third. David Thordarson of Bloomfield placed fourth while John A. Winkels of Minneapolis, Minn., was awarded fifth place.

Entrants were required to be a member of the International Chili Society and were asked to prepare at least two quarts of Red Texas Chili on site during the Fair. Alexander's winning entry earned a $250 cash prize as well as eligibility in the World's Chili Cook-off Championship.
