Iowa State Fair Earns International Industry Honors

DES MOINES, IA (12/14/2016)(readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair was awarded top honors in the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) agricultural, competitive exhibit and communication competitions, awarded earlier this month at the annual IAFE Convention.

In the Agricultural Awards competition, the Iowa State Fair won the following first-place awards: Program Designed to Educate Consumers/Fair-going Public of a Current Agriculture or Fair Industry Challenge, Innovative Way(s) Technology Is Used to Benefit Agriculture Program(s) at Your Fair, Agriculture Programs Promotional Video. Second-place honors were awarded in the Snapshot/Overview of Agricultural Program Participation Trends category and third-place recognition was given in the Agriculture Individual Photo competition.

In the Competitive Awards division, the Iowa State Fair was awarded first-place in the Participatory Contest and third-place in the Competitive Exhibit Display Photo Series.

In the Communication Awards category, the Fair earned five first-place honors including: Color Newspaper Ad, Magazine Ad, Single Brochure and Flyer, Printed Promotional Material, and Desktop Website. The Fair earned second-place in the Mobile Website, Commemorative Poster, Miscellaneous Marketing and Promotional Display and Unique Advertising Specialties/Merchandise or Souvenirs categories. The Fair also earned third-place honors in the Promotional/Advertising Poster category and Overall Mobile Campaign.

The IAFE awards are divided into five divisions based on attendance and are judged by a team of industry leaders from the IAFE membership, representing more than 1,100 fairs around the world and more than 900 members from allied fields. The Iowa State Fair competed in the category of Fairs with attendance over one-million.
