Background: It's a jam packed weekend at Genesee Community College and everyone is invited to attend one or all of the events. The main campus in Batavia will be a beehive of activity with several events planned including:

Open House, Batavia Campus, Saturday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

"Ethereal" annual Spring Fashion Show, William W. Stuart Forum, Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Fashion Merchandising and Fashion Design students outdo themselves with a show that never fails to "wow" crowds. Tickets for the shows are available for $5 in advance or $7 at the door and can be purchased by calling 585-345-6830 or email cmyoung@genesee.edu. Advance tickets are strongly recommended and must be purchased by April 24, 2014.

"Tales from Japan," by Patricia Montley and produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. is on stage in the Stuart Steiner Theatre, Friday- Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The Forum Players Children's Theatre ensemble presents this unique collection of folkloric Japanese stories, bringing to life subtle and surprising aspects of Japanese culture that speak to all ages. Tickets are $8, $3 for students and children, $5 for seniors and GCC faculty/staff and are available through the GCC Box Office at (585) 345-6814 or boxoffice@genesee.edu.

Also this weekend, GCC's Medina Campus Center will host the annual Civil War Encampment featuring a parade through downtown Medina, mock combat battles, displays, activities, a Victorian cotillion ball, and much more. Events kick off Friday evening at 7 p.m. when organizers will recognize the first Heritage Heroes Award recipients. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Maxwell will speak at 1 p.m., re-enactors engage in mock battle at 2 p.m., and the Cotillion starts at 7 p.m. View the complete schedule online at http://civilwaratgcc.wordpress.com/.
