Jacksonville Soldier Awarded Meritorious Service Medal

SPRINGFIELD, IL (12/20/2016)(readMedia)-- Maj. Douglas Coop, of Jacksonville, Illinois, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal during a ceremony in Springfield, Illinois, Dec. 20.

The Meritorious Service Medal is a military award presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who distinguished themselves by outstanding meritorious achievement or service to the United States. Coop was awarded the medal for eight years of service as a federal technician and four years as the State Partnership Program Officer.

Coop has more than 18 years in the military and serves in the Company B, 2nd Battalion, 129th Regional Training Institute as the Officer Candidate School Commander.
