ASHLAND, OH (11/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Delaware resident, Jacob Christ, who is a junior majoring in business management at Ashland University, interned Sherwin Williams in Ashland, Ohio, over the summer. He was under the supervision of Store Manager Megan Holdren.

Christ is the son of Scott and Patty Christ of Delaware. He is a 2010 graduate of Olentangy High School.

While interning with IGS Energy, Christ had numerous duties he had to complete on a daily basis.

"I had to pull appropriate products from the sales floor or warehouse as well tint and mix paint to customer specifics. I also had to ensure the product order forms were properly completed, place the orders and follow up as necessary. Finally, I assisted customers by determining needs and presenting appropriate products and services," says Christ.

When asked if he accomplished any major projects during his internship Christ replied, "I facilitated the Purdy sale by displaying Purdy products for customers to easily see and made sales calls to wholesale customers about the event. I also promoted the Eminence ceiling paint to retail customers as a contest against the Sherwin Williams Stores in the Midwestern Division. Finally, I completed the Sherwin Williams Midwestern Division First-Year Internship Program workbook."

Christ reflected on his internship and explained that he had learned a wide variety of knowledge in just a few months. He said he learned time management skills as well as how to efficiently multi-task with multiple projects.

Christ believes his classes at Ashland University prepared him for his internship. "I was able to understand business terminology and how they are used on a daily basis. This helped me be able to learn at a faster rate how a store operates," says Christ.

His internship has given him more confidence due to working with numerous customers, thus improving his people skills. His internship also taught him how to multi-task more efficiently under pressure, which will help him in the classroom when he is dealing with multiple school projects at once.

"My career plans have changed, I am now considering pursuing the Management Training Program for Sherwin Williams to start my career with the company," says Christ.
